Seedy Sunday this Weekend! Yay! Spring is Around the Corner :)

Here’s the latest press release for Toronto’s Seedy Sunday, this Sunday, February 13 at Hart House.  If you’ve never been to Hart House before, now is the perfect opportunity.  Hart House is one of the University of Toronto’s many outstanding heritage buildings.  It’s also their “Living Laboratory.”

What is a “Living Laboratory”?
It’s a place for inspiration, engagement, reflection and action.

Seedy Sunday is a great opportunity to chat with other gardeners and buy/trade seeds for your garden.  We’ll be there with plenty of fun children’s activities so please make sure to stop by and say hi!  Here’s the media release for Sunday.  There’s some great information about why Seeds of Diversity started this event.

Spring arrives early: Seedy Sunday happens at Hart House on Sunday, February 13th (12:30-6:00pm)

TORONTO – Spring is here – for gardeners and those who like to plant ahead.

On Sunday, February 13, join thousands of people during Seedy Sunday to learn about eco-gardens, participate in children’s events, and exchange and buy seeds of all kinds – with a focus on organic, heirloom and heritage seeds.

For gardeners, foodies and green-minded folk, the annual event heralds the transition from winter hibernation to spring planting.

Hosted by Toronto Community Garden Network, there will be opportunities to trade and exchange your seeds, visit garden-supply booths, meet Toronto’s foremost food and gardening organizations, buy delicious snacks, and attend a free Talk Series on gardening-related issues.

Last year’s event attracted 2,500 people and more than 50 vendors.

Originally started as a seed exchange, Seeds of Diversity Canada founded Seedy Saturdays and Seedy Sundays in the early nineties. The event has since spread across the country in dozens of communities.

This year’s Seedy Sunday is brought to you by Toronto Community Garden Network and Seeds of Diversity, as well as the City of Toronto, Evergreen, FoodShare, Green Thumbs Growing Kids, Greenest City, Greening Sacred Spaces, Hart House, LiveGreen Toronto, North York Harvest Food Bank, Scadding Court Community Centre, The Stop and Toronto Green Community.

There are two other Seedy events this year: in Scarborough on Saturday March 12th and North York on Sunday March 27th. For further event details please visit or contact:
