We love our volunteers! Our program wouldn’t be the same without the many friendly, enthusiastic and caring people who help us out on a regular basis. Volunteering with the Children’s Eco Programs can be a fun, fascinating, motivating, messy and educational experience!
The volunteer activities at the garden, in the kitchen and on the trail often require patience, a little exercise and a lot of enthusiasm. When volunteering with our programs it’s our goal to make sure you have a positive experience. In exchange for your energy and support we will offer you the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and enjoy the fresh air 😉
We encourage long-term volunteering with our programs. We are happy to help beginners improve their skills with us and foster mentoring opportunities with our more experienced helpers. Any volunteer hours completed at the Children’s Garden, Children’s Teaching Kitchen or on a Discovery Walk Trail can be counted towards high school community service hours.
Our greatest need for volunteers is during the spring, summer and fall.
We provide any training required for the opportunity you’re interested in. For more information about the sign up process and what is involved check out the City of Toronto website.
Our Program Volunteers work with our Spring/Fall School Programs and our Summer Camp on weekdays. These opportunities require applicants to fill out a Volunteer Application Form and participate in a brief interview. It is also be required that volunteers in these programs obtain a Vulnerable Sector Screening. This is a police reference check that is required when a volunteer or staff member is working with children or other vulnerable populations.
If you would like to volunteer with our Spring School Programs please contact us by March 15 (416-392-1329) in order to have your Vulnerable Sector Screening completed in time for Spring Programs. If you would like to help out during our Summer Camp Programs please contact us by May 15 to complete your Vulnerable Sector Screening in time.
For opportunities like event volunteers you can fill out this form and let us know of your interest and we can schedule you for an event.
